Well…what a bizarre February we’ve had!
A short month that showed all the promise of Spring in the opening weeks, and ended on a blisteringly cold winter storm!
Being that it’s been such a short month, and while we’re still so much in the early stages of our renovation here…it’s hard to select any real firm February favourites, so this will inevitably be a rather short and sweet post.
Things to buy
At the beginning of February, it was really refreshing to see daffodils for sale in all the local supermarkets, and this year I’ve really embraced filling a little milk jug with daffs to bring a sense of Spring in to the house (even if ‘Storm Emma’ and ‘The Beast from the East has put a dampener on the Spring vibes!). Daffs are a really cost effective and bright way of bringing some colour in to the house after a long and dark winter…so this month my ‘must buy’ purchase has to go to daffodils, which are available in most supermarkets for as little as 95p.
Things to do
I was really spoilt this month, as Rich treated me to a trip back down to River Cottage HQ near Axminster in Devon…
Whilst not an avid ‘Hugh’ or ‘River Cottage’ fan, I have watched plenty of his stuff on TV, I do trat his ‘River Cottage Everyday’ book as a bit of a bible and I really love the concept of rustic, locally sourced seasonal food done well…and it’s a joy to head somewhere like River Cottage where this is at the core of what they do.
We’ve been before and we’d definitely go again. The communal dining is fab, and the whole experience makes for a really fun evening. February is a great time to go too as the log burner in the yurt is roaring and it’s full of those cosy vibes. Certainly something I’d recommend if you get the chance.
That’s about it for us this month, it’s been a short month, so I’ll leave you with a short and sweet post!
