It’s Sunday, it’s the 15th April, and after months of planning (8 to be precise…!) we’re about to be and truly thrust in to the chaos of our renovation!
As I sit here typing, it’s during a very short and much needed tea break, this weekend has been spent packing up and dismantling rooms as we know them!
Due to funds (or lack of!) we (Rich and I) will be doing most of the work on this renovation, everything from new insulation, laying new floors, plastering, plumbing, bathroom fitting, building new internal walls…you name it, we’re doing it – around full time jobs – we must be totally bonkers! We’ve a little experience on a much smaller scale (we stripped out and renovated our old 2 bed semi-detached, had new windows, central heating etc put in and fitted the bathroom and kitchen), but this is a whole new level!
We’ve found some (hopefully excellent) builders who so far have been awesome, very communicative and helpful who have agreed to work on a labour only basis on some of the structural work that we’re having done (fitting of steels, knock throughs, small extension and new roof) – but this means that we’ll basically be living on a building site as no room will be untouched…and yes….we’re staying on site….!
We’ve made some good progress this weekend, and with a skip being delivered on Tuesday and the builders starting the following Monday it’s all getting a bit real! We’ll try and document the journey as much as we can on here, Instagram and our YouTube channel for anyone interested in following along!
